Neil Aitken

Physiotherapist - Prestonfield Golf Club

BA (Hons), Stirling University

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh

PgDip Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Glasgow Caledonian University

Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy,

Member of Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists,

Member of Society of Orthopedic Medicine,

Certified Medical Professional with The Titleist Performance Institute.

Having previously worked as a senior physiotherapist in the NHS Neil made the move into private practice where he could work with patients from the moment they developed their pain through to full recovery. Neil has also worked in several sporting environments including rugby, football, squash and endurance events/races. Neil was also the first physiotherapist in Scotland to qualify as a certified Medical Professional with The Titleist Performance Institute. As such Neil works with golfers of all levels from Tour Professionals through to club golfers. His specialist work in this area is split between performance enhancement and the treatment of injured golfers. Please refer to the TPI and Golf Specific Physio sections of the website for more information on this.

To keep his knowledge and skills at a high level Neil has undertaken vast post graduate training including the prestigious MACP qualification. Neil uses the latest evidence based practice to diagnose your problem accurately and provide the most clinically proven treatment available to assist you in your recovery. Neil’s philosophy is that you must first diagnose the current problem but then you must identify why this problem started. Altering the cause of the problem is the path to long term prevention. So Neil will help you to recover from your pain as quickly as possible and will put in place a plan to help to prevent any future recurrence of the problem.

To achieve this Neil may use ‘hands on’ manual therapy and massage techniques, exercises, postural corrections, acupuncture, taping and general advice on what to do or what not to do.
